And while lefties might not be reactionary to the same extent as republicans it’s still very much prevalent. I went to dinner with my family recently and the stuff they said about my cousin’s family who emigrated from Russia made me feel like I was losing my mind. He’s 2 years old. you call these ppl out for their xenophobia but the thing is these days, if you’re not using blatant racial slurs against russians or chinese ppl or physically assaulting them, it’s not considered xenophobia by a lot of ppl. Russophobia and sinophobia have become so normalized and ingrained in the western perspective just in the last decade that saying shit like “china steals” or “russian meddling” is like saying trees are green. Like what do you mean, i’m just stating a fact about their society/government/culture/etc, that’s how they are, how is that xenophobia, are you a russia/china bootlicker, etc etc etc
